Can I grow indoors or outdoors?

The kit is for outdoor growing. However, adding a Grow Light can convert one or more of the Flex Tower Gardens into an indoor garden! Read more about indoor gardening.

Check out my indoor Tower Garden FLEX that I grew at the Volusia County Fair in 2018! At the time, I didn't realize we could grow cucumbers or tomatoes indoors, but I've since learned how. They are easy to grow!

Do I need a Tower Garden Cage?

Yes...No...Maybe so! The Family Garden comes with one Tower Garden cage, which works very well for indoor cucumbers. If you plan to put two or three Tower Gardens indoors, you may also need to purchase extra cages.

The Tower Garden on the left has a Tower Garden cage attached to it.

Do I need the dolly?

Perhaps! If you're growing indoors OR on a hard surface, like concrete or wood, then purchase a dolly to protect your Tower Garden. They are pretty tough, but they sure don't like to be dragged across hard surfaces!

What about an extension kit?

Ahhh, yes, now you're talking my language! I love extension kits. The Family Garden comes with the regular, standard extension kit. It allows you to grow 8 more plants in each garden (20+8=28). I recommend that you add the Baby Greens Extension Kit. I've grown onions, strawberries, gourmet lettuce, baby bok choy, and more in this kit! You can use it instead of or in addition to the regular extension kit.

Do I need the stronger pump or another timer?

Your kit comes stocked with supplies, including three pumps and two timers. Each timer has two plugs for up to two Tower Gardens.

  • You need another timer if you plan to separate all three Tower Gardens, for example, one at Mom's house, one at Dad's house, and one indoors.

  • If you stack an extension kit on top of the extension kit that comes with the Tower Garden, you need the stronger pump.

  • If you use the included extension kit, stick with the standard included pump.

  • If you stack two extension kits, please order a high-capacity pump.

If you stack two extension kits on your Tower Garden, use the high-capacity pump, please!

Do I need to buy seeds?

The Family Garden comes with various starter seeds (arugula, gourmet lettuce, basil, rainbow chard, kale, bibb lettuce). However, you will want to customize it to fit your growth!

Help! I'm a little freaked out. I don't know what I'm doing!

Don't worry—I am here to help! Start by downloading and printing these planning sheets. The first is for the Tower Garden with a Baby Greens Kit, and the second is for the Tower Garden as it comes standard with the Family Garden.
